Your donations count! Please bring us your used clothing, household items or furniture pieces. We have a market for most any item in good condition. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. A receipt will be issued upon request or you may download it here.
For larger donations, contact us at 919-202-0445 to schedule a drop off time.
TIP: Second Hope Shop can not accept broken or unsellable items in accordance with Internal Revenue Service requirements. "a new law was enacted in 2006 that requires all donated household goods be in good condition..."
TIP: You can ask any organization whether it is a qualified organization, and most will be able to tell you. Or you can check IRS Publication 78, which lists most qualified organizations. You can find Publication 78 on the Internet at www.irs.gov/app/pub-78. You can also call the IRS at 1-877-829-5500 to find out if an organization is qualified. (For TTY/TDD help, call 1-800-829-4059).
We sincerely appreciate all donations but can not accept the following items due to state or federal regulations and safety or environmental concerns:
Rolling infant walkers
Any item needing repair
Newspapers or magazines
Worn or stained furniture
Ammunition and firearms
If you have questions, feel free to contact us about your donation. Recyling services are available in our area for many of the items we can not accept. Your local landfill may offer recyling programs for hazardous waste and the local police department can help you safely dispose of firearms and ammunition.
